Anders Zorn (1860-1920) is one of Swedens foremost artists who also obtained international success. One specially admires his ability to caracterize a personality, to render the movements of water or depict the skin of a nude woman.
His art made him wealthy and he was thus able to build up a considerable collection of art. The objects were not only bought in his native country but also during the many travels he made abroad.
Anders Zorn and his wife Emma, née Lamm (1860-1942) donated in their joint will (1919) their entire holdings to the Swedish State. The name of the donation is Zornsamlingarna (the Zorn Collections) but it consists of four separate parts. The Zorn museum contains a selection of Zorns own works and major portions of his art- historical collection, the Zorn Manor, the home of the Zorn spouses which has remained untouched since the passing away of Mrs. Zorn.
Zorns Gammelgård, an open- air museum on Lake Siljan with a remarkable collection of ancient timber buildings which in 1993 was completed with Zorns Textile Chamber in which a large part of the textile collection is displayed, and Gopsmor, the wilderness studio on the Österdalälven.

Anders Zorn (1860-1920) est l'un des plus célébres artistes suédois, qui jouissait aussi d'un grand succés international. On admire tout particuliérement son art de caraetériser une personnalité, de peindre 1'eau ou de rendre les chairs féminines.
La fortune que lui rapportait sa peinture lui permit de consituter une grande collection d' oeuvres d'art, destinées à un musée. Il achetait des objets non seulement en Suéde mais aussi pendant ses nombreux voyages à 1'étranger.
Par un testament commun, Anders Zorn et sa femme Emma, née Lamm (1860-1942), léguèrent en 1919 la totalité de ses biens à l'État suédois. La donation porte le nom de Zornsamlingarna (Collections Zorn), mais consiste de quatre éléments distincts: le musée Zorn, qui contient un choix des ses oeuvres et une grande partie de sa collection d'art, la maison Zorn, la demeure des époux Zorn où rien n'a été changé depuis la mort de Mme Zorn.
Zorns Gammelgård, le musée de plein air au bord du lac Siljan, un ensemble unique de maisons anciennes en bois qui a été complété en 1993 par le Cabinet de textiles Zorn dans lequel on retrouve une partie de la collection de textiles, et enfin Gopsmor, l'atelier primitif près de 1'Österdalälven.

Anders Zorn (1860-1920) ist einer der erfolgreichsten schwedischen Künstler, der auch international grosse Berümtheit erlangte. Man bewundert seine Fähigkeit, eine Persönlichkeit zu charakterisieren, Wasserbewegungen zu schildern oder die nackte Haut einer Frau wiederzugeben.
Durch seine Kunst erwarb er ein Vermögen, welches ermöglichte, eine grosse kunst- und kulturhistorische Sammlung aufzubauen und den zukünftigen Bau eines Museums zu Verwirklichen. Das Museum enthält ausser schwedischen auch viele ausländische Kunstschätze, welche Anders Zorn unter seinen zahlreichen Auslandsreisen erwerben hat.
Anders Zorn und seine Gattin Emma, geb. Lamm (1860-1942) stifteten in einem gemeinsamen Testament (1919) ihr gesamtes Vermögen dem schwedischen Staat.
Der gemeinsame Name der Stiftung ist Zornsamlingarna (Die Sammlungen Zorns) und besteht aus vier verschiedenen Teilen: dem Zorn- Museum, welches eine auswahl von Zorns eigenen Werken und einen grossen Teil seiner kunsthistorischen Sammlungen enthält, dem Zornhof, der ehemalige Wohnsitz des Ehepaares Zorn, der seit Frau Zorns Tod unverändert erhalten wird.
Zorns Gammelgård, ein Freilichtmuseum am Siljansee, mit einer einzigartigen Sammlung von alten Blockhäusern, die 1993 mit Zorns Textilkammer erweitert wurde, in der grosse Teile der Textilsammlungen zu sehen sind, und Gopsmor, Wildmarksatelier am Österdalälv.
